“Mr. Cameron’s dog that did not bark”

Prime Minister David Cameron will give millions of pounds to local authorities that allow shale gas developments to go ahead, part of a drive to create more jobs and encourage investment in the U.K.

Mr. Cameron suspects that Britain’s freak weather is due to global warming, however the need for cheap hydrocarbons means that he will subsidize the UK Shale industry at the regional level. The taxpayer is paying for the Shale exploration. Regions with low economic activity will be tempted by the subsidies; so the new Fracking industry footprint will cover the old regional industrial footprint.
